Group theatre trips for the rest of 2008

I help to run a theatre group at the company I work for, which arranges trips every 3-4 weeks to shows on in London. It helps that we get cheaper tickets because of the group discounts that producers generally offer.

We arrange our programme 6 months at a time, and since it’s the start of July, we’re just finalising the list of shows for the rest of the year. After a couple of discussions and some email back-and-forth, we have agreed our selection. We think it’s a pretty well balanced programme, so read of if you want some ideas for what to see.

2008 Tony Awards – the musical winners

Last night saw the Tony Awards ceremony, and I was hoping to see some success for the Broadway production of Sunday In the Park with George, originally produced at the Menier Chocolate Factory. Unfortunately, it didn’t pick up any of the 9 awards that it was nominated for – instead, it was left to South Pacific, In The Heights and Gypsy to share the spoils..

Review: Maria Friedman Re-arranged (Menier Chocolate Factory)

I went to see Maria Friedman: Re-arranged at the Menier Chocolate Factory last night to start the Bank Holiday weekend.

Despite being only the 2nd night of a 6-week run, the Chocolate Factory was still completely packed out, reminding me just how popular Maria Friedman is in London. On this evidence, the theatre has yet another commercial hit on its hands.

But what about the show itself?
