La Cage Aux Folles IS coming to the West End

This was announced over a week ago (see What’s on Stage and Playbill articles for more), but for some reason I forgot to write about it at the time…

Originally staged at the Menier Chocolate Factory, it has taken more than 6 months for the transfer to be confirmed, but I have no doubt that it will be well worth the wait.

I saw the show, directed by Terry Johnson, first time around and it was fantastic. I wasn’t the only one to think so! Check out the reviews in the Guardian and Telegraph for another perspective. Whilst it’s a shame that Philip Quast hasn’t remained with the production, seeing Douglas Hodge should make up for that disappointment (his understudy was on when I last saw the show).

The Playhouse Theatre should also be a perfect venue for the piece as it’s small enough for the show to retain the intimate feel that it had at the Menier.

Tickets are now on sale at http://www.lacagelondon.com and I’d recommend getting a move on and booking your ticket. If you didn’t see the show at the Menier, you don’t want to risk missng it again!
